Asda issues urgent recall on crisps amid choking hazard fears – check for faulty batches


Asda as well as the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a food recall on popular crisps sold at the supermarket. A food recall is put in place when there is a discovery of safety issues or product details that might endanger the consumer. 

The supermarket said: “If you have purchased Smith’s Snaps – Spicy Tomato Flavour, Multipack 8x13g, with the above date code, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.

“You do not need your receipt. Alternatively, you can contact Smith’s directly for a refund on the customer care line below.

“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused and if you would like any further information please contact:

“Asda Customer relations – 0800 952 0101 or Smith’s Customer Care Line – 0800 274777.”

Those with the affected batches should return the packaging to store for a full refund.

Batches affected:

The best before date that customers should look for is April 2022.

Birds Eye said in a statement: “If you have bought any for the above batch codes, please do not consume.

“Instead, return the packaging to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

“Alternatively, take a photo of the packing which shows the impacted batch code and send this, with your name, address and contact details to us via contact us www.birdseye.co.uk/contact-us.”

The popular chicken product is sold at the likes of Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.
