Luiz is out of contract in the summer, so Arteta’s plans to sign a new centre-back may not be good for the Brazilian’s hopes of staying in north London.
Arteta has spoken of Luiz’s leadership qualities in the dressing room, so perhaps he could get a new deal on that basis.
But the arrival of Konate would again restrict the minutes the 33-year-old would get.
Luiz could therefore choose to move on in search for regular first-team action.
