The stars celebrated Salma’s 55th birthday together

While taking to Instagram on Friday, Salma gave her followers a look into her recent birthday celebration.

The Frida Kahlo actress’ birthday was on September 2.

Salma was surrounded by friends for her birthday festivities, as the group gathered on and around a bench while they chanted “Mordida” as the birthday girl prepared to blow the candles out.

Angelina, 46, rested her hand behind Salma’s neck and smiled before she shoved her friend’s face straight into the cake.

Luckily for Angelina, Salma was a good sport about the situation and burst out into laughter following the stunt.

She even explained that having your face shoved into a cake is part of the Mexican “Mordida” tradition, which is when the person celebrating their birthday takes the first bite out of the cake as their face is shoved into the dessert.

The 30 Rock alum captioned the video: “My brother @hayekstudio and me trying to teach Angie how to do the mexican mordida @angelinajolie.”

Angelina and Salma, who star in the upcoming Marvel film The Eternals, have clearly created a strong bond.

Salma’s birthday celebration was likely a good distraction for Angelina, who is currently fighting ex-husband Brad Pitt in a nasty custody battle.

Angelina and Brad, 57, have been fighting in court since they split in September 2016.

The former couple share six kids together: Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 13.

Back in May, Judge John W. Ouderkirk granted joint custody to the Fight Club actor.

However, a California appeals court reportedly disqualified Judge Ouderkirk because he allegedly had not sufficiently disclosed matters involving the Seven Years in Tibet actor.

Judge Ouderkirk – who supposedly has history with the former couple – had reportedly married Brad and Angelina back in 2014.

It’s believed the lower courts ruled in Angelina’s favor to remove Judge Ouderkirk and dropped his ruling from the custody case.

The attorneys for the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor argued the error made by Judge Ouderkirk was minor and was apparently not worth pulling out of his custody ruling.

The lawyers also claimed the Salta actress was allegedly looking for any reason to get the judge removed from the case.

Just days ago, Brad slammed Angelina’s custody win and demanded a “review” of the private judge ruling that sacked his 50-50 agreement.

According to the court papers obtained by PageSix, Brad will reportedly challenge his former wife’s win in their child custody case in the California Supreme Court.

A statement from the actor’s lawyers said: “We are seeking review in the California Supreme Court because the temporary judge, who had been appointed and repeatedly renewed by both sides, was improperly disqualified after providing a detailed, fact-based custodial decision, following a lengthy legal process with multiple witnesses and experts.”

However, it’s believed that Angelina is “hopeful” the case will go her way.

A source told Us Weekly: “Angelina feels it’s extremely important that the kids’ feelings about who they want to essentially spend time with are heard.

“She isn’t forcing the kids to testify. She has taken the advice of the children’s therapists. She is hopeful that going forward, with an impartial and fair judge, the children will be able to testify.”
