Alexander Armstrong has fronted the BBC quiz show Pointless for more than 10 years. He has earned millions of pounds during his career.

While he is best known for his career in the media, he did not always do this.

Alexander worked in a number of bars and restaurants before appearing as a comedian at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

He formed the comedy duo with actor Ben Miller and they landed their own show in 1997.

The pair appeared on screens in the show, Armstrong and Miller, which aired until 2001.

DON’T MISS

Shortly after the programme ended, the duo built their wealth by taking the show on tour.

In 2010, they embarked on their second national tour, playing 62 dates across the UK.

Alexander has worked as an actor and had a role in the BBC sitcom, Beast, from 2000 and 2001.

He also topped up his fortune as an actor in a number of episodes of Doctor Who and in Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans.

The television star is perhaps best known for his appearance as the host of BBC’s Pointless.

Alexander has worked on the weekday quiz show with Richard Osman since 2009.

While he has not disclosed his salary, Alexander is sure to have earned a large sum of money as he has hosted more than 1,000 episodes.

He has also showcased his presenting skills on a number of other shows including BBC’s Epic Win, The Great British Weather and ITV’s Prize Island.

When he’s not fronting popular TV shows, Alexander has dedicated time to his music career.

While he kicked off his career in television, he is a classically trained bass baritone.

In November 2015, Alexander released his solo album, A Year of Songs, which sold more than 187,000 copies in the first year.

The album reached number six in the UK album chart and took the number one spot in the classical music charts.

His second album, Upon a Different Shore, landed the number eight spot in the UK album chart.
