The third season of Ricky Gervais’ tear-jerking comedy-drama After Life is coming to Netflix soon. And to send excitement levels through the roof, Ricky took to social media to share a first-look photo from the set of the series to confirm filming is currently underway. Needless to say, fans quickly flooded the web with their messages of excitement at the news.
After Life has proven to be a massive hit on streaming platform Netflix ever since its premiere in 2019.
The series follows Tony (played by Gervais) as he grieves over the loss of his wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman).
Fans witness the highs and lows of Tony’s life after Lisa’s death, showing Tony is the pits of despair juxtaposed with mood-lifting scenes as those who care about him rally around in support.
Heading into the third series, Tony was at his lowest point in the final moments of season two, only to find hope in nurse Emma (Ashley Jensen).

And season three looks like it’s going to be the final time fans get to see Tony’s story play out on-screen.
In 2020, Ricky said: “I’ve already made my mind up there just won’t be a fourth.
“You never say never but you put those things out there to make you remember because it’s tempting, it’s very tempting,” he told The Sun.
But this hasn’t dampened the hype Ricky received after sharing the snap from the set of After Life on Monday.
“How exciting [smile emoji] for you & us fans. So looking forward to the last instalment. Thanks,” commented a third.
While a fourth weighed in: “So pleased. Never has loss and grief been portrayed with such honesty, thank you x.”
And a fifth echoed: “So glad there’s gonna be a season 3! I binged the show after I lost my mom 2 months ago. It helped.”
As it stands, season three of After Life hasn’t been given a release date but fans will be hoping it won’t be too far away.
