WITH egg prices soaring, conscious customers may be looking at alternatives this Easter season.

One clever food influencer has developed a sweet substitute.

As Easter rolls around and with “eggflation” on the rise, those who celebrate are searching for less expensive ways to decorate eggs.

Content creators Lexi Harrison and Beth Sinclair, who go by the username @crowded_kitchen on social media, have shared a creative egg decorating technique that involves no eggs.

The pair created a cute egg-shaped snack using peanut butter, white chocolate, and natural food dye.

According to the video, the Easter treat is inspired by Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs.

These homemade snacks, however, are lower in sugar than the store-bought variety.

It’s a budget-friendly way to make eggs without letting any real eggs go to waste.

The peanut butter-filled treats are made to resemble robin’s eggs, but the description notes that they can be dyed any color.

THE RECIPE

Crowded Kitchen’s recipe calls for peanut butter mixed with almond flour, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt, blended together with a hand mixer to create the filling.

The filling is rolled into egg shapes, then dipped into a mixture of melted white chocolate, blue spirulina, and matcha.

The mixture is whipped together with a whisk, giving the coating its familiar bluish-teal hue.

The peanut butter eggs are then dipped in the coating to create the “shell,” and speckled with a mixture of cocoa powder and water.

Once dried, they perfectly resemble speckled blue bird’s eggs.

FAN REACTIONS

The video received over 1,000,000 views on Instagram at the time of publishing, with comments from large brands including Betty Crocker and Amazon.

Some fans shared their reactions and tips for recreating the festive dessert at home.

“These are genius!” wrote one commenter.

“I’ve made these twice now and they are so good!” wrote another.

“The speckle process definitely makes a mess so the second time I tried to drizzle melted chocolate instead and that worked great.

“Makes them look more like decorated eggs than natural ones though.”

“Sooooo perfect,” said another.

“Better than the ones you can get at the store for sure!”
