According to ESPN, the legendary cornerback has gone back to his roots as he signed a one-day contract with the Cardinals that will expire on Monday when he officially calls time on his NFL journey.
This promises to be an emotional send off as the Florida native spent 10 seasons at State Farm Stadium before moving to the Minnesota Vikings.
Peterson was a Pro Bowler in each of his first eight seasons with the Cardinals and a member of the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade team.
In fact, the NFL hero was a three-time All-Pro selection throughout his career.
Peterson also spent one year with the Vikings until his exit in 2022.
He then moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023 where he only stayed for one season.
Peterson is without a doubt one of the best defensive players of his generation.
And he will certainly be a strong candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Peterson will become eligible for the Class of 2029 after amassing a total career earnings of around $113million.
The Cardinals are now gearing up for the 2025 season as they have found out their opponents.
Jonathan Gannon’s side will face the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks at home.
Arizona will also lock horns with the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, the Rams, 49ers and Seahawks away.
